“The Sports tab in the Apple TV app makes it even easier for fans in the US to track the teams, games and moments that are important to them. “Amazon Prime Video is one of the most eagerly anticipated apps to come to Apple TV, so we’re excited to bring all of that great content to customers,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. In 2015, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos refused to sell Apple’s streaming TV box unless his company’s Prime Video app could be installed. This collaboration could also pave the way for Amazon to start selling the Apple TV again. With the app being made available, not only has it increased convenience for Apple users, but has also opened a potentially large market for Amazon Prime. Before this availability, Prime Video could only be played on Apple TV via a wireless AirPlay connection. The native Prime Video application joins similar apps from Hulu, Netflix, and other streaming services available on the Apple TV. The tvOS version is available to download on Apple TV 3rd generation devices or later.
The iOS app was also updated to version 5.0 as well, adding iPhone X support and universal search.
